The problems with getting foot tattoos

Tattoo Gallery & Pictures

There are so many places on your body to get a tattoo. Almost any part is up for grabs, though some body parts are more difficult to get tattooed than others. One place that appeals to people is the foot. To a person new to tattooing, this seems like a perfectly fine location. However, some tattoo artists are against performing foot tattoos.

Tattoos on your feet are discreet and easy to cover. Unless you're barefoot, no one is going to see this tattoo, so it would work well for someone whose lifestyle isn't entirely accepting of body art. While these are certainly upshots to getting a foot tattoo, this location has downsides that have some tattoo artists saying no because they want to give their customer the best possible tattoo.

Your foot is constantly rubbing against things. You use your feet everyday. The constant movement and interaction with the elements makes tattoos on the feet very difficult to heal. An improperly healed tattoo isn't going to be a very attractive tattoo, and that's something you'll have to deal with for a long time. Sun exposure and activity can also lead to fading.

However, even people who are aware of the consequences may still want to get a tattoo on their foot. The best way to go about this is to discuss your desire with your tattoo artist -- a trained, qualified professional, not someone who is willing to give a less than great tattoo for the money. At the very least, he or she could recommend someone to you.

By asserting that you know there's a risk in lack of quality, you represent yourself as a knowledgeable consumer instead of an impetuous one. Show that you're willing to put in the large amount of required time to care for this tattoo, and there's a chance you'll end up with what you want.
