Celebrities generate some publicity for tribal sun tattoos
Like many designs for tattoos, tribal sun tattoos owe a lot of
their popularity to having a celebrity show it off. The MTV show
Newlyweds features pop singer Nick Lachey and his
often-displayed tattooed bicep. While tribal tattoos were popular
before then, specific designs often get thrust into the limelight
when someone famous chooses to get one.
Just like Britney Spears helped to make fairy tattoos more
popular, celebrities like Nick Lachey, Charisma Carpenter, and Sisqo
have brought more allure to getting a tribal sun tattoo. They also
show the versatility of such a design -- Lachey's is on his bicep,
Sisqo's is around his navel, and Carpenter has one on her lower
back.
One cool benefit of watching what celebrities and other folks do
with their tattoos is that you can see designs in a new light.
Tribal tattoos aren't always considered sexy -- bold, powerful,
dramatic are often among the first adjectives that come to mind
instead. But if you look at Charisma Carpenter's daringly low sun
tattoo, you'll notice that these tattoos, though they might be
considered more masculine than feminine, can still be sexy.
This isn't to say that getting a tribal tattoo of a sun is a good
idea just because celebrities do. There are many other reasons to
get such a tattoo -- suns symbolize God to some people, for
instance, and the sun is also seen as the giver of life. But
sometimes you just don't consider things or aren't knowledgeable
about them until a celebrity generates publicity.
