The healing process for pierced belly buttons

Pierced belly buttons are popular and attractive. It’s a
flattering look for women in different stages of life, whether they
are college students or professionals. However, people should be
knowledgeable about the piercing healing process before they choose
to get their belly buttons pierced.
One basic fact about aftercare for piercings is that the more
movement inflicted upon the pierced body part, the longer and more
difficult it is to heal. So much of your daily movement stems from
your midriff. Therefore, belly button piercings undergo a fair
amount of strain while trying to heal. This is why these piercings
take at least six months and sometimes up to a year to fully heal.
You’ll want to stay away from vigorous movements in the initial
phase of healing.
Fabric can also act as an irritant to newly pierced navel.
Wearing clean, loose clothing during the initial stages of healing
can help keep this problem from occurring. Also, select pants with
lower waistbands so that your pants don’t rub against your navel.
Letting your piercing breathe and have space is a crucial part of
healing.
Making sure your navel is clean and drying it properly after
cleansing the area is also important. Be gentle when you move the
ring during cleaning. There’s apt to be some crusting or white
discharge around the area. Only when the pierced navel turns yellow
or green, is this an indication of a problem. Redness and a
sensation of heat are also indicative of infection.
Understanding that healing will take awhile to complete is your
first step in having a healed piercing. Following the piercing
artist’s aftercare instructions, keeping irritants like clothing or
harsh soaps away from the new piercing, and avoiding vigorous
movement during the beginning of healing will help your new belly
button piercing heal properly.
