Want to get your cartilage pierced? Consider a rook piercing

One of the more interesting and perhaps intricate piercings that
you can get on your ear is the rook piercing. The rook is the thick
piece of cartilage that juts out under the rim of the ear and above
the tragus. A small piece of jewelry accents this ridge. Both men
and women enjoy the look they achieve with this type of piercing.
While there are certainly more painful and complicated piercings
you can have done to your body, rook piercings can hurt and be
mildly difficult for your piercing artist to get to. This is not to
say that it isn’t a routine procedure for an experienced
professional – the only difficulty is the location of the rook in
the ear being less accessible.
Your experience in getting a pierced rook will depend on the size
of your rook. A large rook makes the piercing artist’s job easier,
as he or she can access it easier. However, a bigger rook means more
cartilage, so while your piercer is having an easier time of it, you
are in for more pain. Conversely, a smaller rook has less to pierce
through but it is more difficult for your piercer to place.
If the location or nature of this piercing isn’t quite clear to
you, or you just want to see what it looks like, take advantage of
piercing pictures available to you on the web.
Tribalectic is one great
source for free pictures of body piercings. You’ll be able to see
what a pierced rook likes on a man or a woman.
BME also has lots of rook photos.
This piercing is the perfect complement to other piercings on the
ear, and also looks good on its own.
