Different ways to get your ears pierced

Almost every young girl wants to get her ears pierced in order to
wear pretty, stylish earrings. But ear piercing is so much more than
the standard lobe piercing, and it isn’t just for women and girls.
There are lots of ways to get almost any location on the ear
pierced.
When someone mentions a cartilage piercing, it is likely they are
talking about an earring placed on the top of the ear and away.
However, there are a several piercings done to the cartilage, each
with a specific name.
Helix piercings occur on the outer rim of the ear – the folded
edge. These piercings can be close to the head, where the helix is
attached, or farther away, just above the conch.
The conch piercing is placed in the thicker area between the lobe
and helix. As long as you take care of it during the healing
process, it’s an easy piercing to maintain, as it isn’t prone to
rejection.
Between the lobe and helix, attached to the head, is where the
tragus piercing is located. It’s a little flap of cartilage in front
of the ear canal, and the ease of piercing depends on the size. A
larger one is easier to do.
The rook and daith are two similar cartilage piercings in that
they go through thicker places on the ear. Right above the tragus,
on the inner part of the ear, is a ridge called the daith. Right
above the daith and below the helix is another ridge called the
rook. The ease of piercing depends on the size of the rook. Because
these are thicker areas to pierce through, healing takes longer.
When a piercing goes through lobes, conches, or helixes in two
places with a captive bead ring, it’s called an orbital piercing.
For instance, a captive bead ring through two places on the helix is
an orbital helix. Two piercings on the helix can be joined with a
straight barbell to form an industrial piercing, as well.
With all these types of piercings available for the ear, surely
there is one that’s perfect for you.
