Expand your ear piercing with ear plugs

Stretched ear lobe piercings have become a fairly popular look in
body modification. Piercings are gradually stretched out in a
process that takes several months to move down a couple gauge sizes.
Ear plugs – not the plugs worn in the canal during concerts but the
body jewelry – are often worn in stretched piercings.
The different styles of ear plug jewelry vary in size and shape.
Some plugs are flat on each end while others have round ends. A
bullet plug has one flat end and one rounded end, with the length
and width being determined by your personal preference. Another type
of plug is the spike plug, which is pointed on one end. Flared plugs
are narrower in the middle than they are on the ends.
Plug jewelry is made out of a variety of different materials.
Depending on the sensitivity of your skin, you can enjoy stainless
steel, acrylic, Pyrex, or fiber optic glass. Or, for a really
interesting look, try plugs made from bone, horn, or a stone such as
obsidian.
Ear lobe jewelry is available in many gauge sizes. There is no
specific recommended maximum stretching size – it depends entirely
on the look you want to achieve. If you get your ears pierced with
the intention of stretching the piercing, you can get pierced in a
lower gauge, such as ten or even eight. Then, after you’ve had your
piercing for at least six months, you can start stretching with
plugs.
