Prince Albert piercings – a popular, low maintenance male piercing

The most popular piercing for the penis is the Prince Albert.
Named after the husband of Queen Victoria of England, legend has it
that Prince Albert piercings were used as ‘dressing rings’ to keep
the penis tied to the leg so that men could wear tight pants without
offending the ladies.
Today a Prince Albert piercing is done for aesthetic reasons and
to enhance sexual pleasure. The piercing goes through the urethra
and ends at the base of the glans. Unlike some particularly
specialized or inventive piercings done to the male genitalia, the
Prince Albert is less painful and not as difficult to care for.
Prince Albert body piercings have a lower incidence of rejection
than other penile piercings. Take care to choose jewelry such as
surgical grade stainless steel or titanium to further lessen the
chance of your body rejecting the jewelry.
The piercing takes about two to four months to heal, and urine –
as it is sterile when it exits the body – actually aids in the
healing process. You should abstain from sex for at least a week
after getting your Prince Albert. After initial one week period, be
very careful during sex and do not engage in intercourse without a
condom until the healing process is over.
Captive bead rings and circular barbells between 12 gauge and 6
gauge are recommended for the Prince Albert. The skin easily
stretches, so stretching out the piercing is not difficult or very
painful. The ring style you choose to wear depends on your level of
comfort.
