Labrets have plenty of options

Labrets have traditionally been less decorative than some other
types of facial body jewelry, since they are almost always posts
because of their location centered below the lip. Captive bead rings
and other hoops aren’t practical for labret jewelry, but these days there
are plenty of other options.
Stars, spikes and a whole range of other options can give
you lots of variety with a labret piercing. You can go way beyond
the standard labret stud or barbell and get a variety of unusual
shapes, including star shapes and other shaped studs. There is
also labret jewelry that is set with gems or semiprecious stones. One
popular style is the “bullet” stone, which is a polished,
bullet-shaped stone set in a metal base for a labret.
Of course, the more intricate the edging (star shaped, carved,
etc.) on labret jewelry, the more you have to make sure you’re cleaning
your labret thoroughly so that dirt and drainage don’t collect
around the stud. You should also take into consideration that labret
studs will have a tendency to rub against the lower edge of the lip
and the upper curve of the chin if you choose larger sizes. Make
sure that the jewelry you pick for this location won’t irritate you by rubbing too
much.
