Getting a successful surface piercing

Surface piercings are notorious for their tendency to migrate or
be rejected because they are close to the skin’s surface and because
jewelry, including most types of barbells, tends to exert a fair
amount of force on the surface piercing no matter how well done the
piercing is. So what do you do to try and achieve an attractive,
successful surface piercing?
First, find a piercer who is experienced at doing all types of
surface piercing and schedule a consultation with him first to
discuss where you want your surface piercing done. Because these are
dicey to do, you shouldn’t just walk in and expect it to be done. An
initial meeting will make things go much smoother the day of the
piercing.
Next, make sure that surface bars are used for your piercing –
these are the only ones that aren’t likely to be rejected by your
body because they exert very little pressure against the flesh after
the piercing is done. Surface body jewelry should also always be
made from the safest, most inert metals possible, such as titanium
or surgical steel, and it HAS to be matched to your particular
piercing.
Sites such as Painful Pleasures can provide high-quality titanium and surgical steel
surface bars in a wide range of custom sizes for your surface
piercing. These are staple-shaped barbells that will work in your
surface or Madison piercing with much less chance of rejection or
migration so that you can display your surface piercing for years to
come.
