Who uses body piercing kits?

While the best possible way to get a new piercing is to go to a
piercing studio and have a professional piercer do the work for you,
the reality is that some people will continue to self-pierce.
If this is what you are going to do and you plan on having
multiple piercings, take a look at some of the body piercing kits
now available that provide most of the tools needed to self-pierce
relatively safely. Body piercing kits usually have enough supplies
in them to do several piercings, including cleansing and aftercare
solutions, individually packaged piercing needles, captive bead
rings, closing and opening pliers, forceps and a sterile marker pen
as well as disposable gloves, cotton pads and other items you will
need.
The actual primary use for body piercing kits is for when
piercers are “on the road,” perhaps at concerts or special events,
when they may want to have supplies that are easily transportable,
or for apprentices who are just starting up and need a small amount
of supplies to work with. In these cases, these supplies can be used
in conjunction with the autoclave that is available at the studio or
shop where the piercer works.
If you choose to buy body piercing kits for your own use,
however, read the literature that comes with them and follow all of
the precautions. Do not use the piercing needles more
than once – always dispose of them immediately. Body piercing kits
are on the market to offer convenience and portability to piercing
specialists and responsible self-piercers, and are not meant to be
used irresponsibly.
