Different types of belly piercings

Like your ears and mouth, your navel – depending on its shape –
can hold multiple piercings. Or, perhaps you’ve seen the most common
belly piercing that starts above the belly button and you want
something different. Belly piercings can be positioned in several
different ways.
Multiple navel piercings can be positioned in several different
ways. You could position the rings like points on a compass, or
above the navel in a V shape, or in any design you come up with. As
long as you have enough skin around the area for the barbell, it’s
possible.
If you are going to get only one navel piercing, but you want it
to stand out a little bit, consider an inverse one. This is done by
piercing the navel’s lower half instead of the traditional upper
portion.
Or, if you have a traditional and inverse belly button piercing
and both piercings have healed, with a long barbell you can create
an industrial piercing in your navel. This would join the two
piercings together with one piece of jewelry.
A horizontal belly button piercing lays on top of the navel,
rather than passing through it. This is a surface piercing and
requires more care and attention than other navel piercings, but it
does offer a unique look.
Maybe you have an “outie” and you think you that there’s no way
you can get navel piercing. This is not the case! It’s called a true
navel piercing, because the piercing needle passes through the navel
itself instead of the skin surrounding it. These are fairly
uncommon, so talk with your local piercing professional to get
someone experienced in the art of true navel piercing.
Now that you understand the different types of belly button
piercings, you can decide which one is right for you. Enjoy your
piercing!
