Top down navel jewelry offers comfort options

Navel jewelry is one of the most popular styles of body jewelry
around, but because belly button piercings vary so much from person
to person it can be difficult for some women to find comfortable
jewelry that’s stylish.
One of the primary problems is that some women find the dangles
that hang off of the bottom ball of a curved or banana barbell
uncomfortable. This is especially true for women who have a rather
deep navel piercing.
If the belly button jewelry tends to get pulled into the navel itself,
it can be uncomfortable and irritate the skin. The newer "top down
belly ring" style solves this problem. With this, the dangle is
attached to the topmost ball so that it swings free over the belly
button itself. Some women prefer this style of jewelry because
they say it lays flatter, too.
Top down jewelry for the navel is often hinged where the dangle connects
to the ball as well for ease of movement. It’s also a popular style
for "framing" the belly button with ornate lattice work or patterns
such as yin-yangs.
Because it is hinged on the top ball, the jewelry doesn’t
restrict movement while it accentuates the navel. So if you’ve tried
dangling belly rings before and didn’t like it, try again with a
few top down dangles, and you may be surprised at how different this
style feels.
