Belly bars are great alternative to captive bead rings

When you get your navel pierced, you will most likely come home
with a captive bead ring because it’s easy to clean and is lends
itself to the healing process better than any other type of jewelry
in this area of the body. But by the time you’ve had it in the
minimal six months usually needed for healing; you’ll be ready to
try belly bars or some other type of belly button jewelry for a
change of pace. Belly bars come in two different styles – the
straight barbell and the curved barbell.
Curved belly bars are more commonly worn, and are simple barbells
that have small balls or ornamental ends (dice, koosh balls, etc.)
that screw onto either end of the bar. The curved shape fits more
easily into a standard belly button piercing. If, however, you have
a horizontal navel piercing that’s a surface piercing across the top
of the navel, without the barbell actually going into and then out
of the belly button itself, straight belly bars will also work very
well.
When you are ready to replace your original piercing jewelry in
your navel piercing, you may want to return to the piercing parlor
where you originally got the piercing done and discuss the best
belly bars for your particular piercing. Your piercer will be able
to advice you on styles and types that will be both attractive and
comfortable.
