Body piercing has risks you shouldn’t ignore

Body piercing is the most popular form of body modification
around these days, with more and more mainstream interest in facial
piercings, navel piercings and a variety of other types that have
become more accepted. But the risks of body piercing should be
considered before you jump in with a decision to have this permanent
procedure done.
Body piercing means inflicting a puncture wound on your own body.
It’s that simple. So if you are going to get a body piercing, you
should be prepared to take care of an open wound properly for
several months. You should also be aware that you may run into
complications.
While these are rare, the reality is that you could end up with
an infection of your body piercing that translates into pain,
illness and medical bills. If you can’t afford to take that kind of
a chance and aren’t willing to spend the money to treat any problem
that arises properly, don’t get a body piercing.
Is your immune system suppressed? If you are HIV-positive, have
Hepatitis, or have any type of immune-related disorder or a blood
disease such as Hemophilia, a body piercing puts you at high risk of
a dangerous infection. You are deliberately opening up a wound in
your body that will take weeks or months to heal, so don’t take a
body piercing lightly if you are ill.
