Clothing can irritate new nipple jewelry

Nipple jewelry is one of those piercings that is great fun to
have and that can add real excitement to your personal life, but it
is also one of the most difficult types to protect and care for
because it is almost always covered by clothing. Protecting your
nipple jewelry from irritation and possible snagging is very
important, especially during the first few months of healing.
Most new piercings are done with captive bead rings, which can
become hooked on things or snagged, so it’s important to keep this
in mind when you get dressed and undressed each day. Be aware of the
nipple jewelry and never quickly tug your clothing over your head.
Always check for loose or stray threads and any loops or fastenings
that could snag on your nipple jewelry. Nothing is quite as painful
as suddenly tugging at a fresh piercing in sensitive skin!
Support of the breasts is important for women with fresh nipple
piercings, so a supportive bra should be worn whenever possible –
supportive, but not tight. The area around new nipple jewelry may
also leak for the first several weeks. If you find that this is a
problem, try lining the inside of your bra with small circles cut
from unscented pantiliners. These will cushion the area and
absorb moisture to keep the area dry and prevent any staining of
your clothes.
