Should you remove nose jewelry for job interviews?

Nose jewelry is so much a part of yourself that you probably
sometimes forget you have it in. For many people, nose piercing just
isn’t the type of thing that even raises eyebrows anymore, but the
fact is that when you go to a job interview, nose jewelry can still
cause others to feel that you may not be the right person for the
job.
It doesn’t matter whether this perception is right or wrong, and
if you want to be the poster child for nose jewelry rights, go
ahead. But if you want to be realistic and get a job and the company
is a conservative one, the path to employment probably means
removing your nose jewelry for your interviews and, in some cases,
leaving it out at work.
If you’re in a creative occupation this probably won’t be the
case, but if you’re in banking, financial planning or some other
traditionally conservative career, nose jewelry should be left for
after hours.
How do you accomplish this without losing your nostril or septum
piercing? By putting in a retainer. These tiny acrylic replicas of
the real thing hold open the piercing while being so small as to be
unnoticeable to most people who aren’t actually looking for nose
jewelry. It’s a great way to keep your piercing so that you can wear
what you want in your free time, but keep to the standards of a
corporate dress code.
Hey, sometimes we all make sacrifices to make a living. That’s
how we pay for cool nose jewelry!
