Female genital piercings give a woman an erotic, exciting way to personalize her body. For some women, these piercings are a form of female empowerment; for others, they are a way improve sexual response.

There are eight basic ways to get a female genital piercing. Once you read and understand these, talk to your piercing artist to determine which is right for you.

The triangle piercing is a rare piercing that requires a woman to have enough room when the clitoris is pulled out to put a piercing behind it and under the clitoral hood. It stimulates the back of the clitoris

Women who have enough skin to pierce the surface of their perineum may enjoy a fourchette piercing. The piercing may catch on clothing or irritate the vagina during sex.

Christina piercings are also rare and require the skin between the top of the outer labia and pubic mound be thick enough to support the surface piercing. Healing time is up to four months.

If a woman has a large enough clitoris, that can be pierced as well. There have been a few reports of losing sensitivity after this piercing, but that is extremely rare.

Vertical clitoral hood piercings are popular and less painful than other female body piercings. Jewelry goes through the hood and rests on the clitoris for enjoyable stimulation. The horizontal hood piercing is attractive, but does not provide as much sensation unless your clitoris is shaped in a specific way. Both heal fairly quickly.

Inner labia piercings are also quite popular. The area can hold multiple piercings, and women find the jewelry provides enjoyable sensations. Outer labia piercings aren’t as common and don’t give a lot of stimulation. The jewelry is easily rejected. Both types of labia piercings performed on each side and joined with jewelry to create a chastity piercing.

Once you’ve determined which piercing you want, discuss your plans with your piercing professional to see if your anatomy can support it.
