Navel rings work better if navel is “just right”

Navel rings are a tricky business, made more complicated by the
wide range or differences in anatomy from one person to another. You
may have heard that there is often problem with migration of navel
rings, and this can be true, particularly for people who have
shallow belly buttons. Without enough flesh to work with and get
some depth, the natural tendency of the body may push the ring or
curved barbell (the two best choices for a new navel piercing) out
of the flesh.
The opposite is also true – if you have a very deep belly button,
an inexperienced piercer can get carried away and give you a
piercing that is too deep. With this, you end up with navel rings
that don’t show properly because the lower ends end up being “sucked
into” the belly button itself. This creates three problems – it is
more difficult to keep a deep navel piercing clean, the navel rings
don’t show like you want them to, and it can be distinctly
uncomfortable to have your navel rings jabbing you from the inside
and getting stuck in there.
It’s always best to ask your piercer for his honest opinion about
whether your belly button is suited to navel rings before going
through with the procedure. Done properly, navel rings are sexy and
fun, and can look and feel just right.
