Navel piercings are a popular spring break indulgence

Navel piercings have become more popular ever since they grabbed
public attention in the 1980’s when they began making their
appearance on fashion runways on top fashion models. During the
decade of the supermodels, women like Naomi Campbell flashed navel
piercings while modeling couture clothing and belly button rings
immediately became a fashion must-have for the fashion-conscious.
More recently, however, navel piercings are becoming a part of
the Spring Break rite of passage for college-age girls along with
trips to Cancun and getting tattoos. Visit a boardwalk of any size
along a beach in Florida, Mexico or the Gulf Coast and you’ll find
piercing parlors filled with young women getting their navels
pierced as a reminder of the great fun they had on their Spring
Break.
When asked, most of these young women will tell you that navel
piercings are a great souvenir and a bonding experience for them and
their friends. If they are in Mexico, they can also get it done
cheaper than they can in the states, but they should be careful to
check the cleanliness and professional credentials of the person
doing the piercing before making an impulsive decision.
Most of these Spring Break navel piercings are done on the last
day of the vacation so that it doesn’t interfere with swimming in
the ocean (you have to stay away from swimming and other activities
for several weeks after a new belly button piercing is done), but
with more and more women undergoing this rite of passage on
vacation, plenty of navel piercings are coming home from hot summer
vacations.
