Jewelry choice is important for a healthy labia piercing

Labia piercing is becoming newly popular after years of being
nearly unheard of, although hundreds of years ago it was popular in
some cultures. Ethiopia, Persia and Rome all have a history of labia
piercing going back thousands of years.
Today, women can choose to have either an inner or outer labia
piercing, but they must choose the jewelry they wear carefully to
prevent damage to this delicate area of the body. In most cases,
captive bead rings are chosen because they are comfortable and
attractive and have no sharp edges.
With captive bead rings you can change the bead in order to get a
variety of looks, but there is little danger of loosing the ring or
the bead. Just make sure that any beads you use are made of
materials that will stand up to any body fluids they may come into
contact with, such as urine, blood or semen. If you are unsure, your
piercer can make recommendations as to which bead materials are
appropriate for your labia piercing.
Slightly thicker gauges will prevent the ring from pulling
through the flesh, which is a hazard because of the friction of
clothing, general body movement and any intimate encounters. You
don’t want a ring to come loose or pull free and be pushed into the
vaginal cavity, so listen to the recommendations of your piercer,
stick with a slightly thicker gauge ring, and always take proper
care of your labia piercing for years of pleasure.
