entertainment news programs help publicize certain celebrity looks.
One such trend is celebrity belly button piercings, launched into
popularity by teen queens like Britney Spears and Christina
Aguilera.
There are several factors at work that make navel piercings so
popular among young women. For one thing, depending on specific
cities’ and states’ legislation, teen girls can get pierced navels
with parental permission. More accessibility means more popularity.
But the prevalence of pierced female belly buttons owes a lot to the
young women in the media who show them off. Celebrities are often
style role models to teenagers,
Pierced navels are sexy and flirtatious. The piercings go
perfectly with today’s fashion trends of low-rider jeans and midriff
baring tops. But they can also be easily covered up with clothing as
well. Movie stars may show up on award shows with belly button
rings, then in their next films be jewelry-free. Retainers can also
keep the piercing from closing without making it obvious you are
pierced.
Famous navels are often adorned with fun jewelry. Britney Spears
is often photographed in fashionable dangling rings or Playboy bunny
curved barbells. This can increase sales of certain styles of body
jewelry as girls turn to their favorite celebrities for fashion
advice that looks good and men find attractive.
