Fake belly button rings give you the look without the piercing

February 22, 2005
By:  Lori Wilkerson

Fake belly button rings look so much like the real things these days that you can wear them without anyone detecting that it’s not the real thing in most cases. This might be the best option for those who are too young for belly piercings, not very tolerant to pain or have other health related issues.  Piercings are also not cheap these days, so if you are someone on a budget, fake navel jewelry is a cost effective alternative when trying to achieve this popular look.

Why invest in fake belly rings when you can get the real thing? Here are some more reasons why some might choose this option.

  • If you like the look, but participate in a sport where a real piercing isn’t practical right now (you can’t go swimming for months after getting a navel piercing), then fake navel rings are a great way to flash the look until you can get the real thing.
  • If you have a suppressed immune system because of illness such as hepatitis, hemophilia, or HIV status you should not be pierced, but fake navel jewelry can give you the look without the risk.
  • If you simply don’t want the care and inconvenience right now, or you aren’t sure you are ready to commit to a real navel piercing.
  • If you wear a few styles of fake belly rings for six months and decide you really love it, you can always get pierced later.
  • If you realize that you’re only wearing them occasionally for special nights out (or in!) and that most of the time you just can’t be bothered, then you’re better off sticking with the fake version of the jewelry.

It’s all a matter of what works best for you. If you have been intrigued for a long time by the possibility of a belly button ring but haven’t taken the next step, then a fake belly button ring may be the perfect way to “test drive” the idea.
