Corset piercing not meant to be permanent or practical

If you’ve seen a woman displaying the exotic and erotic corset
piercing, you’ve probably wondered how she manages to wear these
multiple surface piercings under her clothes when she’s not showing
them off. The truth is, in most cases a corset piercing is only
meant to be temporary. This type of surface piercing, made up of two
series of rings up the back placed to resemble the rings or hooks of
an old-fashioned corset, are then laced together.
The corset piercing is most popular for performance art and
fetish events, and is almost always removed immediately afterward.
They usually can’t heal properly because they are a surface piercing
in an area prone to rejection and they use a type of jewelry that
isn’t really suitable for permanent use in the area. More recently,
the term corset piercing has been used to encompass any kind of
paired, laddered piercings that can then be laced together.
A corset piercing is not for everyone, and it isn’t recommended
for someone who wants a permanent piercing since the likelihood of
rejection of all or most of the captive bead rings used is likely.
Like any surface piercing (a piercing that goes through only one
plane of the skin surface, such as the nape of the neck or the base
of the collar bone, called a Madison piercing), your body will
attempt to force the rings of a corset piercing up through the skin
layers and out of your body.
