Prince Albert piercing is popular for sexual enhancement

August 21, 2004
By:  Lori Wilkerson

Prince Albert piercing is the most popular form of male genital piercing, and is becoming more common each year as both women and men discover that it adds greatly to sexual sensation for both partners. A Prince Albert piercing is a serious procedure and you do want to make sure it is done by an experienced piercing professional who is skilled at this particular procedure.

The Prince Albert piercing goes through the underside of the penis near the glans and exits through the eye of the penis. During the first 24 to 48 hours after the piercing their may be some bleeding, and mild swelling which is normal. For about two weeks it is crucial that you don’t touch the piercing except to cleanse it twice a day with a mild cleansing agent recommended by your piercer and occasional soaks in salt water. You will, however, want to wipe the area with a warm, damp cloth every time you urinate.

It usually takes at least three to six months for complete healing, and you shouldn’t attempt to change the jewelry before then. You can usually return to sexual activity within six weeks to two months after getting the piercing, but be sure to cleanse thoroughly afterward. Infections of a Prince Albert piercing, however, are extremely rare due to the relatively germ-free content of urine.

An extreme version of the Prince Albert piercing is the Prince’s Wand, a devise inserted through the eye of the penis into the urethra and used for sexual stimulation. It is meant to be used as a sex toy only and not worn at all times.
